My first reaction to _Making up Megaboy_ included words such as
"frustrating" and "incomplete." I still feel that way about the book, but these are two of the qualities that make it thought-provoking and discussable. It did come to mind after the Littleton and Arkansas high school shootings as the news reports started filtering in and people tried to piece together the stories behind them. We will never have all the answers. It's hard enough for adults to accept this--it's important to offer children opportunities to talk about it in this day and age when they can't help but be aware of apparently senseless tragedy. _Making up Megaboy_ can offer such an opportunity, especially if it includes a discussion of heroes and role models.
