1) This month: "Open to Interpretation..." --- Recently there have been a number of young adult books that inspire discussion by encouraging readers to interpret meaning.
During the first weeks of July, we'll revist a book we discussed last fall: "Making Up Megaboy" written by Virginia Walter and illustrated by Katrina Roeckelein (DK Ink, 1998).
Between July 15 and 31, we'll discuss a new novel, "Monster" written by Walter Dean Myers and illustrated by Christopher Myers
(HarperCollins, 1999).
At this time, we encourage you to locate a copy of the magazine "Book Links" (May, 1998: pages 25() to read an interview with Ms. Walter, Ms. Roeckelein, and editor Richard Jackson, the creative team that wrote, illustrated and shaped the book "Making Up Megaboy."
2) August, 1999: "Hans Christian Andersen Medal Winners - 1999" --The works of the most recent winners of this international award are notably discussable.
