One of the comments we hear over and over again from members of the CCBC-Net Community is that people like the fact that it's a "quiet listserv" that typically has only a few messages a day and can sometimes go for two or three days with no postings at all.
With the increase in messages over the past few weeks, I want to remind those of you who like things a little bit quieter that you can set CCBC-Net to "Digest" and get just one message every morning, with all the cumulated messages of the previous day. This type of message opens with a numbered list of all the contents, showing the subject line of each message that was posted, and as you scroll down, it contains the complete messages of the previous day, in the order in which they were posted. You can still send messages to CCBC-Net as you do in the non-digest form. The only disadvantage is that you don't receive the messages as soon as they are posted and there may be up a 24-hour delay between the time of the original posting and the time you receive it.
To change to this option:
Send a message to : listserv at ccbc.education.wisc.edu (please note that this is a DIFFFERENT address from the one you use for sending messages to the group. You will have to enter it into the To: line.)
In the subject line of your message, type: SET CCBC-NET DIGEST
That's it! But please remember: do NOT attempt to set digest by hitting reply to THIS message. Otherwise you will send your request out to the 1000+ people on CCBC-Net. Send it to: listserv at ccbc.education.wisc.edu
This an address that responds to automated commands.
If you have questions or comments about the DIGEST option, please write directly to me at horning at ccbc.education.wisc.edu or to our listkeeper, Chris Dowling at cdowling at ccbc.education.wisc.edu Chris handles the technical end of CCBC-Net.
