Topics for CCBC-Net discussions are always available on our web page at: http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/listdisc.edu
Upcoming Topics for June, July and August are:
1) This Month ? "Cross-over Books" This months we'll look at books that were published and/or promoted for both adults and children, including "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" by J.K. Rowling, "Watership Down" by Richard Adams, and "The Middle Passage" by Tom Feelings.
2) July 1999 ? "Open to Interpretation..." recently there have been a number of young adult books that inspire discussion by encouraging readers to interpret meaning. For the first two weeks in July we'll revisit a title we discussed last fall "Making Up Megaboy" (DK Ink) by Virginia Walter, and for the second two weeks we'll discuss a new novel by Walter Dean Myers, "Monster"
(HarperCollins).
3) August 1999 ? "Hans Christian Andersen Medal Winners, 1999" ? the works of the most recent winners of this international award are notably discussable. From August 1, we'll discuss the works of Tomi Ungerer, who won in the Illustrator category; and from August 161, we'll discuss the works of Katherine Paterson, who won in the Author category.
We have several more topics under consideration suggested by those of you in the CCBC-Net community. As always, we welcome your suggestions for future discussions. Please contact Ginny Moore Kruse (gmkruse at ccbc.education.wisc.edu or Kathleen Horning (horning at ccbc.education.wisc.edu) if you have a topic to suggest.
