Maia, You make perfect sense and some excellent points. We need to remember that the fantsy genre includes such titles as Alice in Wonderland, The Cricket in Times Square and Charlottes Web. There are many different sides of fantasy and it sounds as if HP combines aspects of many, making it appealing to such a broad audiance. I believe it was Renee that had said it was appealing in a Dahl kind of way, this is a good observation, it seems to me a combination, with many Dahlish aspects.
