One children's title I have recommended to adults is Leon's Story, the true story of an African American family in the North Carolina in 192040 or so. I recommend it in part because the topic so important to our understanding of our history. But, of course, that alone would not be enough. The voice of that book is so affecting. People seem not to discuss it afterward, but to soberly absorb what it has to say.
