Hello. David Gale passed along to me some excerpts from the CCBC discussion about Eloise. In case you are still wondering, the issue of the New Yorker in which the article about Hilary Knight appeared was May 31st. Interesting articles about Eloise have a lso appeared in the Village Voice and on the Salon web site in the "Mothers Who Think" column. I think both articles can be found in their web site archives. Also, Walter Mayes was quite right in saying that Kay Thompson vehemently viewed Eloise as an adult book, and it was published as such in 1955 (though children have certainly embraced it).
