A recent title that was a favorite in my house, enjoyed by adults and a middle-school student was Tibet through the Red Door by Peter Sis, a Caldecott Honor book and a title that can be enjoyed on many different levels. I was very happy that the Caldecott Committee honored such a
"sophisticated" book, that can also be read through its illustrations or in small sections, e.g., reading one of the folk style stories by itself.
