Once again I would recommend that anyone who reads the Potter books try any Diana Wynne Jones title (and that's all I'll say this time).
An aside of sorts re cover changes: I worked in an independent bookstore in San Francisco when "The World According to Garp" first came out in paperback. We naturally ordered a huge number of copies, and were interested to see that they arrive with THREE different cover illustrations
- a marketing attempt to see which would sell best. I believe eventually one of them won out.
As a book designer, I know that cover image selection is a difficult task.
