Lobel and Taylor

Hello,

Just to clarify: my original objection to No Pretty Pictures is totally different from some of the objections being made to the Mildred Taylor books.
In no way am I saying that No Pretty Pictures is too horrific and therefore may harm growing children. This argument is irrelevant to my problem with the book.
The problem with the book is the self-hate that the author feels, and her overriding lack of understanding of her topic, as revealed in her last chapter. To repeat: do you want to promulgate a vision of loathesome, awful Jews to children who may never have met a Jew? Do you want to use this book, because of its author's prominence in one's own field, even though there are so many more worthwhile works on this topic from which to choose?
