Moving on to the Tillermans

I wonder if he had read *Homecoming* first if he would have been more engaged with the follow-up with the characters? (It is much more of an adventure story than a character study).

But, on the other hand, perhaps the appeal of the story has not kept up with the pace of life. Certainly some of Voigt's 90s novels (not in the Tillerman series) capture attention with more dramatic plots.

Or would an approach to the book in the context of the entire family saga and where this fit have made it more of a meaningful reading experience?

I hope others will express their views (and secretly hope that this reader's experience is not that of all -- but definitely wonder).
