We're in the process of thinking about the various suggestions we've received encouraging CCBC-Net to schedule more than one discussion topic a month. For this reason, we're not announcing a July discussion topic at this time.

Yes, we heard you! Yes, we'll schedule the Batchelder Award Discussion later in the spring next year! Good idea!

This month's CCBC-Net Discussion:

Sequels, including: 1) novels and novellas by Mildred Taylor, beginning with "Song of the Trees" and "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry;" 2) the Tillerman novels, a sequence by Cynthia Voigt, beginning with "Dicey's Song;" 3) the Titch picture books by Pat Hutchins; 4) the Martha picture books by Susan Meddaugh; 5) the Alfie and Trotter Street picture books by Shirley Hughes; and 5) "Hatchet" and subsequent novels about Brian by Gary Paulsen.

June, 1999, CCBC-Net Discussion:

Cross-over books, i.e. books published and/or promoted for adults and children, including 1) "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (The second book will be published in the U.S. A. in June by Arthur Levine Books/ Scholastic) by J.K. Rowling; "Watership Down" by Richard Adams; and "The Middle Passage" by Tom Feelings. There are many others, but these are the books we'll emphasize.
