Let the children speak for Harry. My daughter has read it at least 4 times on her own. I am on a second read of reading it aloud to her. There are over 70 holds in the library system on Harry. What is mediocrity? Subject to interpretation. One person's treasure read is another person's junk novel. It was a fun read for me. Looking forward to the sequel, hoping for another wizarding adventure at Hogwarts.
