Alfie Books

I'm with Susan in that I don't really use Alfie books, but then, that's also true of many picture books. I for one think they belong in a K-2 picture book collection.The illustrations of children laughing stick in my mind as the true value of of the Alfie series-- they are joyful and appealing to kids who don't yet read, so that when they are choosing a book to check out, kids often pick Alfie as good to share with the reading grownup at home because the potential fun of the story is clear from the pictures. Kindergarteners have said during checkout "my mom will like this!" just from studying the cover and paging through.
