I don't think anyone has yet mentioned Betsy Byars's wonderful The Moon and I, as warm and funny a book of ANY kind as I have ever read and filled with wise insights about writing and the writer's life. And thank you, everyone, for the long list of suggested favorites that I'm adding to my
