I appreciate being able announce various book events.
One of the most fun ways I am involved with the world of children's literature is by arranging author appearances for Pooh Corner book store in Madison, Wisconsin. About six months ago I got this idea in my head that I wanted to celebrate the talent and dedication of children's book writers and illustrators from the midwest. After getting carried away. . .
On April 24th, I am excited to announce that we are simultaneously welcoming 19 of the finest writers and illustrators from Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin to Pooh Corner East. All 19 authors and illustrators are coming to meet customers, sign books, and many are making presentations.
Together they have published more than 300 books for children and been recognized by dozens of national awards and citations.
In alphabetical order, with a title or two following their name to help you recognize their work.
Eileen Dawson, W Is for Wisconsin
Lois Ehlert, Hands; Planting A Rainbow, Color Zoo (Caldecott Honor)
Stephen Gammell, Song and Dance Man; The Relatives Came; Where the Buffaloes Begin (All 3 were Caldecott winners or Honor books)
Arthur & Bonnie Geisert, River Town; Prairie Town, Pigs From A To Z
George Hesselberg, Special Days, Special Tales
Barbara Joosse, Mama, Do You Love Me?; Lewis & Papa: Adventure on the Santa Fe Trail
W. Nikola-Lisa, Bein' With You This Way; Tangletalk
Beth Peck, How Many Days to America; Thanksgiving Visitor
Anne Pellowski, Betsy's Up-and-Down Year; First Farm in the Valley
Patricia Curtis Pfitsch, The Deeper Song; Keeper of the Light
Connie & Peter Roop, Off the Map; Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie
Charnan Simon, One Happy Classroom; Jesse Jackson
Sheri Cooper Sinykin, Magic Attic Club series; A Matter of Time
