Here is information from the Association for Library Services to Children of the American Library Association concerning Ashley Bryan's free public lecture in Chicago on Friday evening, May 7.

If you have never heard Mr. Bryan speak, I urge you to do whatever it takes to attend what I know will be a memorable evening.

The 1999 Zena Sutherland Lecture will be presented by Ashley Bryan on Friday, May 7, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. Bryan is the author of Ashley Bryan's ABC's of African American Poetry, All Night, All Day, Beat the Drum, Pum-Pum, and other well-known children's books. The lecture will be held at the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State Street, Chicago. A reception immediately follows the lecture. This year it is being cosponsored by the Chicago Public Library and the University of Chicago.
Tickets are $10.00 and can be obtained by sending a check payable to the University of Chicago/Sutherland Lecture and a SASE to: Blaine Library, 1362 East 59th St., Chicago, IL 60637. Tickets ordered after April 30 will be held at the door.
