Lately we've had several off-topic posts on CCBC-Net. This is undoubtedly a reflection of that fact that we're all trying to learn how to discuss books with this new technology and without being able to see each other face to face. In addition, there are always new people joining the discussion who may not be used to a listserv that offers a focussed discussion each month on a pre-announced topic. We thank the "old-timers" on CCBC-Net for their patience with the newcomers as they get used to a different sort of listserv.
To remind everyone, our topic this month is author/artist autobiographies for children and young adults. Specifically, our intent is to discuss the ways these authors and artists write about their lives and about the creative process for young readers. In these first two weeks, we suggested three recent books for you to think about and discuss, compare and contrast: "No Pretty Pictures" by Anita Lobel;
"Looking Back" by Lois Lowry; and "Knots in my Yo-Yo String" by Jerry Spinelli. Each of these three takes a different approach. Later on in the month we'll discuss other author/artist autobiographies we admire and want to call to the attention of the CCBC-Net Community.
Now I invite you to continue with the discussion of "Looking Back" by Lois Lowry.
