If this is a good time for a question, here's mine:
I had planned to use James Cross Giblin's Writing Books for Young People as a text in my planned fall course in Writing Juvenile Fiction at N.C. State U. but the bookstore tells me it's out of stock and they don't know when they can get copies. I wonder what books subscribers to the listserv have found are excellent.
I'm wary of the ones that sound too commercial: 10 tips to writing and publishing, etc. The ones that sound most promising from Amazon.com are Joan Aiken's and Connie Epstein's. But I fear I may be missing something wonderful. Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh has Uri Shulevich's big book, but though it is the definitive work on picture books, he doesn't deal as much with storybooks, and with chapter books, middle grade and YA novels not at all. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks,
