Here's a message sent to me on Friday, March 19, from author Susie Morgenstern to everyone in the CCBC-Net community. You've heard about her from Jill Davis, the U.S. editor of "Secret Letters from 0 to 10." Now you can hear from her directly! We're so pleased to have her write to us from Nice, France. Thank you, Jill, for making the connection both for Ms. Morgenstern and for all of us! ...Ginny

I wrote and wrote yesterday about happy I was to receive all these comments Jill Davis was forwarding to me. Especially on my birthday ! But that message came back.

I'm just delighted that the book got translated and readers are reading and all is well. I can't believe only nine books get translated in the great big USA. Until recently 80% of the French production was translations. Now the proportions are changing.

I've been very persevering for the last twenty-five years, trying and trying to get an American publisher interested, but it took brave, young Jill Davis to do it. I used to translate my books and send them to American publishers and have huge collections of assorted reasons for rejection (they are too French, too European, too esoteric, too politically incorrect). And I was born in Newark, New Jersey ! Too French ? Well, thanks for all your support and maybe you'll help things to change.

My mother thanks you too. This is the first book she was able to read
!
