Dear CCBCers,

I've been enjoying lurking on the list and listening to all of you for the past few months. I'm Elizabeth Partridge, and I write books for children and young adults. This fall my new book was released:
_Restless Spirit: The Life and Work of Dorothea Lange_ (Viking). Its a photo biography for 10+ year olds on Dorothea Lange, the photographer best know for taking the "Migrant Mother" photo during the Great Depression. She was my Godmother, and I grew up across town from her. If you are looking for a strong, difficult, inspiring person to introduce children to, she's your woman.

The last few weeks have been really exciting for me. _Restless Spirit_ was named as a Notable Book by ALA, and Book Links included Restless Spirit on their list of Lasting Connections. It's also been short-listed for the Golden Kite, and nominated for BBYA.

One of the hard things about doing a book like this is all the great stuff that doesn't fit in between the covers. So I've recently put toegether a Web site at: http://www.partridge.org. It was listed as the Web site of the month for February on the CCBC site. Besides more photos, the story behind _Restless Spirit_ and related books and Web sites, I've put up curriculum ideas for using my books in the classroom. My favorite curriculum idea (it is complex and beautiful, combining reading, poetry and hands-on art work) was written by Dean Schneider, another CCBCer. You can find it on my site at www.partridge.org/books/restless/frameset_rs.html.
Hope you can go take a look.
