This is forwarded from Susan Stan who can't get through to the list:
I am a child of older parents, and although my young friends/classmates in elementary school knew my mother, they didn't know my aunt and I remember being asked repeatedly if she was my grandmother. I appreciated the inclusion of older parents in Pete's a Pizza and don't think it makes much difference if young readers/listeners identify the adults as parents or grandparents. I also fail to understand how the images of these adults can be construed as inconsistent with the text, simply because they're inconsistent with a particular child reader's perception of parents.
