Dear CCBCers,

I have been a long time lurker but am coaxed out of my passivityto join this month's conversation. I am a recent UW-Madison graduate in my second year as Library Media Specialist for a k-5 school in the Mill Valley School District, Mill Valley, California.

I am generally a fan of everything by James Stevenson but especially enjoy his books about Mud Flat. He covers the Olympics in his own off?at way in MUD FLAT OLYMPICS a book more about ways to cheat in sports than the athletisicm behind them. Trickeryand comeuppance notwithstanding, all of the participants enjoy the picnic at the end of the day!

Our third and fourth graders got the giggles when I read these stories in preparation for the steeplechase fund raiser. The kids that "get it" cannot get enough of Stevenson's quiet goofiness.
