I must reply to my friend Marc Aronson's only-half-jesting posting about ALA midwinters and Snooper Bowl. Personally, the only time it bothered ME was when the '49ers were involved. then I took along a small portable t.v. and sat in meetings or participated in meetings and flashed score and sign to Grace Ruth--a great fan.
Howmsoever--I must point out to Marc that if he would only attend an ALA Council meeting he would find himself on the edge of an arena where there is much sport: verbal jousting, cattle (of the male persuasion) throwing, down-putting, center staging, and a great deal more. Many of us have felt the sting of defeat and once or twice the thrill of victory.
So there--Marc et alii.
