It's been interesting to read the comments about Matt Christopher's books. When I was working in a public library, they were among the most popular fiction for third/fourth graders, especially boys. Even old dog?red, dated-looking copies of his books like "Johnny No Hit" and "Catcher with a Glass Arm" would get checked out over and over again.

Does anyone have any theories about why his books continue to be popular with kids?
