In my enthusiasm of bringing wonderful children's book authors to Pooh Corner bookstore, I'd like to share with those that are interested 3 special events involving 7 authors at Madison's Pooh Corner East location this February.
Brian Jacques visits on Wednesday, February 10: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
The author of the best-selling Redwall series visits Pooh Corner with his new book, Marlfox, the 11th volume in this fantasy epic. I hear that Brian does a dynamic presentation at his book signings. Has anyone ever seen them?
Black History Books & Authors, Saturday, February 20: 11:00 AM
Five authors of black history books for children visit Pooh Corner for a spectacular celebration of Black History Month. Each author brings a different perspective of African American history to children. Art, literature, music, folk tales and history will be discussed during presentations, a question/answer session, and a book signing.

? Jerry Butler, chair of the art department at MATC and author of A Drawing In the Sand: A History of African American Art and illustrator of Sweet Words So Brave: A History of African American Literature.
? John Duggleby, author of Story Painter: The Art of Jacob Lawrence, and other books for children.
? Margaret Read MacDonald, a librarian from Washington, and author of Pickin? Peas (An African American Folk tale) and many other picture books & teacher guides.
? Julia Pferdehirt, author of Freedom Train: A History of the Underground Railroad in Wisconsin. This book is illustrated by Jerry Butler.
? Leotha Stanley, author of Be A Friend: History of African American Music In Song, Words and Pictures.
Stuart Murphy, Wednesday, February 24, 5:00 - 6:00 PM
Stuart Murphy, the author of MathStart books, presents strategies for effectively using stories, visual concepts, and reading to teach math concepts to Pre K - 3rd grade students. Call (608) 249?87 to register for this special program.
