I wrote my last note before recieving Ginny's question.
1.The Lipsyte books are rich in detail, how Joe Louis and his manager worked hard to present the image of a serious young black athlete, his growing up, his life in context with the times.
2. The illustrations should be clear, numerous and placed in context with the text. The captions should add to the story not just repeat or be pull quotes.
3. I'm a librarian who likes an index and a bibliography
