So--it truly was a marvelous sports fantasy last Sunday when the 'Niners won in the last seconds. Sounds like a book by Dygard?
I measure sports fiction against the works of John R.Tunis who was, when I was a child, about the only "real" writer who gave depth to stories about the game (whatever game).
In the past few years, however, there have been several holding stories in which sports played a part but character and situations outside the game were more important.
Let me remind people that poetry and sports are related and that there are several good anthologies available.
