Would the discussion group be willing to share the ten titles that were considered for the '98 Newbery Award?
Kay, while the books we discussed here at the CCBC are all eligible for the Newbery Award but they don't represent the actual list the real Newbery committee is considering. We choose books for our list as a teaching tool, to represent the types of books that are eligible for the award, so that people who attend the CCBC's Newbery discussion can learn more about the award by applying the actual Newbery terms to a small sampling of the eligible books, and learn how the voting process works.
The actual Newbery Committee has been reading and will be discussing a much larger number of books; however, their list of titles is completely confidential, even after the winner is chosen.
That being said, the results and complete lists of books we're discussing in the CCBC Awards discussions are available on our web site at: http://www.soemadison.wisc.edu/ccbc/awards/index.htm
The books we discussed in the CCBC Newbery discussion were:

4) Go and Come Back by Joan Abelove. DK Ink, 1998.
