Dearest Monica, Thank you for responding, and I am sorry for the shadow the Holocaust must have cast over your life.

My name tells you I am not Jewish; I do have a Bachelor's equivalent in German Studies (30 years old) and studied the subject intensively at one time. Denial in the sense I used it meant pretty much what you said -- a conviction that things couldn't keep worsening but would return to normal. That people surely wouldn't have to give up their homes, their businesses, their lives because of a petty fanatic (tho' as I'm sure you know, Hitler was a bump on the log of the Pan-German Movement, which was very anti-Semitic.)

Victor Frankl's book, Man's Search for Meaning, is one I recommend to everybody i know; Hitler's War Against the Jews is another. I will look and see if our library has the ones you mentioned.
