I recently read and enjoyed both Sachar's Holes and Ralph Fletcher's Flying Solo. Both would make good read alouds to use in classes. Not sure if either will fit the mighty boots of a Newbery Award, though. And since starting to teach full-time at UW?u Claire (Children's Lit, Adolescent Lit) I haven't been reading as many children's books as in my previous
'carnation as a children's librarian (Hey! THAT'S not right!) I will be catching up re-e-e-a-a-l-l-l soon as Winterim break approaches, so keep those suggestions coming in to the CCBC. I'm already looking forward to getting the new Fenner book, thanks to your suggestions.
Still treading water but the water level is down to my neck and not up to my nostrils any longer,
