I believe there is some uncertainty about whether this title is a children's book or not, but I have purchased Peter Sis's "Tibet: Through the Red Box" for an eleven year old avid reader. It works alone and as a sort of sequel to "The Three Golden Keys." It has the same dreamy quality, the "what is real/what is fantasy?" mix. The Sunday and daily New York Times reviewed it as an adult title, one positively and the other somewhat mixed. I haven't seen any reviews of it as a children's book. I think the problem is that it doesn't fit firmly into any one place' it is somewhere in?tween. I'm not that interested in Tibet, in fact tend to find all the attention given to Tibet overkill (I lived in an African country years ago that is in terrible straits and receives next to no media attention); however, I made a point to seek out this book because I have such admiration for Sis's work and I was amply rewarded. I think it is an exquisite work.
