DECEMBER, 1998 - Your Favorites of the Year!
Which of the thousands of books published during 1998: are your personal candidates for any of the annual awards & distinctions? are you buying personally for gifts at any time of the year? are already favorites of children & young teenagers in your personal life, school, library, or bookstore?
Join the annual CCBC-Net free-for-all when we recommend gift books to each other, lobby for favorites for upcoming national awards, and bring attention to new books about which we are excited - and why.
We look forward to hearing from lots of people who typically don't step up to the "open mike" in CCBC-Net, as well as from the people who do.
Remember, there's no such thing as a "lurker" in the CCBC-Net community. We're quite certain you wouldn't be here at all if you weren't already thinking about the monthly discussion topic for one reason or another, or possibly talking about it with your friends or co-workers, or maybe filing it electronically or printing it out for your paper files.
JANUARY, 1999: Sports in Children's & Young Adult Books (a more complete description of this discussion will be posted sometime during the next two weeks)
FEBRUARY, 1999: Feb. 1: Announcement nationally and on CCBC-Net of the 1999 American Library Association Awards: Caldecott, Newbery, Coretta Scott King and Batchelder. Feb. 1 - Feb. 14: CCBC-Net Discussion of the 1999 Caldecott Award Winner and Honor Books (illustration); and Feb. 15 - Feb. 28: CCBC-Net Discussion of the 1999 Newbery Award Winner and Honor Books (writing).
MARCH, 1999: Mar. 1 - Mar. 14: CCBC-Net Discussion of the 1999 Coretta Scott King Award Winners and Honor Books for Illustrator (African American) and Author (African American); Mar. 15 - 21: CCBC-Net Discussion of the 1999 Batchelder Award Winner and Honor Books (U.S. publishers of outstanding translated children's books); and Mar. 22 - 31: CCBC-Net Discussion of 1999 Charlotte Zolotow Award Winner, Honor Book(s) and Commended List (outstanding writing in a picture book).
