To echo Isaac's reflection, it does seem to me that there are more and more books offering multiple perspectives. In addition to story, I think they offer a chance to explore different points of view, certainly a necesssary skill to get along and thrive in an increasingly diverse culture. I am reminded of a seventh grader, who after reading Fleishman's Bull Run remarked to me that the Civil War was more complicated than he'd thought, what had once seemed black and white was now full of gray. Hearing the different character's voices allowed him into their worlds, and he was able to gain a deeper perspective of the Civil War. Seedfolks brings to me similar perspective. Sometimes a sense of deeper perspective is reason enough for reading a book with multiple viewpoints.
