To the 14-year-old reader of Megaboy I'd say: the "Megaboy" story toward the end of the book is Robbie's voice, inner voice at least, which only comes indirectly and cannot, unhappily, be heard. That's what causes his action and accounts for the book, the sad cultural fact that many kids can't be heard--or aren't listened to before it's too late. To Big Grandma I'd say, this is a book needing to be peered into; utter legibility is not quite true to the inner working of this boy, and since the book is small and to be held by readers singly, a certain effort to "see" seems to me a legitimate part of one's experience of it. I am touched by the complexity of responses the book inspires, and the care. Some one, I notice, just unsubscribed with many exclamation marks; I hope Megaboy wasn't the reason. Dick Jackson
