Regarding the term "non-linear" in discussing HOLES by Louis Sachar, and WHIRLIGIG by Paul Fleischman: I think some of this year's novels have been
"multi-perspective;" told from several different points of view. Certainly WHIRLIGIG tells a story from several points of view - the protagonist's, some of the people who see his whirligigs, etc. BAT 6 is clearly told from several points of view, as is MAKING OF MEGABOY. I like the way Big Grandma described HOLES: told from one perspective, but with flashbacks that are eventually
(and I think cleverly) connected. Just a thought. Penny Peck Pikly at aol.com
