This may be peripheral to the topic of picture book reviews, but I'm glad to hear at least one teacher reads. I wish you had signed your name. I heard from a supervisor in one school system that her high school English teachers wouldn't read books suggested for inclusion in the curriculum unless they were paid by the hour for their reading time. I was horrified, assuming knowledge of one's field and keeping up with the literature was part of one's professional obligation. If many teachers don't read, no wonder our kids are still being assigned "The Scarlet Letter" and "Silas Marner" -- not that these aren't great books -- but they certainly wouldn't be my first choice for getting teen-agers excited about literature.
