Everybody, here's what happened within CCBC-Net sometime during the past week. Don't bother to read this, if you don't care. But if you don't know how to reach CCBC-Net technical assistance or aren't sure, please read on.
Not long ago, our guardian angel Christopher Dowling (who is involved with Katy, Megan and me on the planning level for CCBC-Net and who has responsibility for technical management of CCBC-Net) forwarded a final message to the CCBC-Net community from our August guest contributer Leonard Marcus. I believe he wrote to Chris because he knew Megan's schedule on Monday, and he wanted to thank everyone before the month of August ended.
Some of us found it easy to "open" the forwarded fianl message from Leonard Marcus electronically, but others apparently did not. Some of us who had difficulty remembered how to write to Chris directly for assistance (cdowling at ccbc.soemadison.wisc.edu). A few of us who needed assistance sought it ways causing messages to be sent to the entire CCBC-Net community.
Hey, if you were alert last week, you most certainly noticed that even Megan and I conducted "CCBC-Net business" in what would be called
"earshot" if we were together in person rather than linked electronically. We were in a hurry. One or both of us mistakenly pushed the wrong buttons; our messages went to everyone, or at least one of them did. This happens.
Perhaps some of the current confusion seems to relate to the fact that Chris' original message forwarding something to all from Leonard Marcus was a forwarded message. Perhaps it was labeled in a confusing way. Sorry, everyone...
OK, now: if you need assistance from Chris Dowling for any reason, please address a new message directly to him; his e-mail address for CCBC purposes (cdowling at ccbc.soemadison.wisc.edu) is the best way to take care of these matters. He is the person who sends a monthly reminder to everyone regarding CCBC-Net commands, but he does much much more. He and I are the equivalent of frequent pen-pals regarding CCBC-Net. Nothing terribly drastic ever happens. We are here to help you on a one-to-one basis, so our entire community can concentrate on the discussion. We certainly hope everyone who has any kind of problem or frustration will settle her/his situation on a one-to-one basis with each other or with one of us.
OK, Chris Dame? OK, Lisa von Drasek who visited the CCBC this summer and whom I missed seeing when you were here? OK, everyone else? All set?
Let's think about books! Picture books. The reviews of picture books. What do you want to learn about a highly visual book when you read a published review?
Cheers, Ginny Who Will Be Sending a Couple Other Messages Yet Today... Ginny Moore Kruse (gmkruse at ccbc.soemadison.wisc.edu)
Lisa:
Frankly I am bewildered as to why I am on the distribution list; I don't know Mr. Marcus or what this is all about. In any case I delted the message sent to me by mistake. Best of luck finding it.
