Dear Ms Horning, I am new to evaluating any books let alone picture books. I have noticed that there is so many more types of media used in children's picture books now than when I was reading stories to my own sons 15 years ago. Schim Schimmel has the most beautiful "poster pictures" in _Children of the Earth...Remember_, but I don't know if they are photographs or very realistic paintings. I would appreciate the pictures more if I knew the technique that was used. Jan Brett's detailed drawings always amazed me. I see something new every time I look at the books and they make such great lap books when reading them to a child even if you don't read the words. The illustrations done by Art Vandeleigh for Kris Jamsa's book _The Night in the Tree House_ look like computer generated pictures like _The Toy Story_ movie. This is an interactive book with a CD-ROM that goes with it. I am hoping you will help me to appreciate picture books from Marcia Brown to the latest in technology used in children's picture books . Thank you, Edie Danieli
