The Cooperative Children's Book Center of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and HarperCollins Children's Books cordially invite you to attend the First Annual Charlotte Zolotow Lecture "The Ins and Outs of Words" to be given by Karla Kuskin.
Ms. Kuskin's lecture will be preceded by the presentation of the first Charlotte Zolotow Award medal and cash award for outstanding writing in a picture book to Vera B. Williams for Lucky Song (Greenwillow Books, 1997).
These events will take place on Thursday, October 1, 1998, 7:30-9:00 p.m. in the Wisconsin Union Theater, 800 Langdon Street, Madison, Wisconsin. A reception will follow the lecture. There is no charge or pre-registration for the lecture or reception.
All are welcome. Unlimited seating is available.
Selected books by Karla Kuskin, Vera B. Williams and Zolotow Honor Book author/artist Keiko Kasza (Don't Laugh, Joe! published by Putnam, 1997) will be available for sale at a discount in the Union Theater Lobby before and after the lecture. These three book creators will autograph books following the lecture.
Accommodations for individuals with disabilities are available upon request, as is information about local hotels.
All current donors to the Charlotte Zolotow Events Fund of the UW Foundation will receive a printed invitation by mail along with information about local hotels.
All members of the Friends of the CCBC will receive a printed invitation by mail, as well.
Quantities of invitations are available by request, if you wish to make this opportunity known to others.
