Judith, We had spoken about an article about our literature program at Riverdale and concluded that you were looking for a technology component. I think I may have something that would tie into our Newbery project and now features technology. We are moving ahead with our study of what we have selected as some of the best of children's literature for 1998 as we did last year. Students are reading from a list of twelve titles and then will present their reviews in a discussion format to Ellen Fader on an evening during Children's Book Week. The program is well attended by proud parents and staff. It is covered by our local newspaper. Now for the technology: a sixth grade teacher, colleague/friend, Brian Black has created a listserv that extends and validates our Newbery project. I've asked Brian to explain and list the URL:

Hi: Here is the URL for the information page for the listserv. I hope you will join, and will promote the listserv at every available opportunity ;)

http://www.riverdale.k12.or.us/~bblack/kidlit/kidlit.htm

It will tell you everything you need to know. Thanks!

We also plan to highlight our guest authors this year on our library page: Virginia Euwer Wolff, Susan Fletcher, and Paul O'Zelinsky. Aren't we lucky! Also, we're co-sponsoring a lecture with the Multnomah County Library next spring. Patricia Polacco will be speaking in March 1998. Looking forward to hearing from you. Marian Creamer
