Do Teachers Read Book Reviews?

Alas, I am embarrassed for those in my profession who admit that they have read few if any book reviews. If the "stuff' of the profession is literature then I would assume that the professionals might feel obligated to read reviews, criticisms, books, essays, etc.,etc. Wouldn't we expect our physicians(professionals) to keep current in their field?
In our school district it is often the book salespeople who have become the experts and make book selections for the staff, though our secondary staff is more guilty of abdicating their responsibilities than our primary staff.
I listen, too, as students in my Children's Literature class tell of how they have time for reading little but class assignments.

The discussions that are posted at this sight, I might guess, are read by the exception rather than the rule.
