editors' names on copyright pages

I'm new to this discussion, so a brief introduction. I'm a children's writer, author of the middle-grade novel, Snowdrops for Cousin Ruth, published this spring by Simon and Schuster.

It would be wonderful - and more than fitting - to include editors' names on the copyright pages, as Susan Daughtery suggested. As a new writer, unfamiliar with publishing etiquette, I was uncertain how to mention my editor myself - or if I should - but I wished her name was on the book because her intelligence, sensitivity, hard work, and good judgment made an enormous contribution to the book. As Margaret Atwood says, a good editor is more precious than rubies, and I don't know why editors are not routinely, officially acknowledged. (My own personal ruby, since I can certainly acknowledge her here, is Rebecca Davis, and she's really terrific.)
