Yes, records are kept of electronic correspondence. In fact, storage
is much easier because electronic storage takes much less space. I
think it's safe to say that publishing will remain as careful about
filing correspondence in the future as in the past.

It would be interesting to know , in this electronic age, if books like Dear Genius will be a possiblility in the future with so much business conducted by email, telephone, and fax. Are records kept of electronic correspondence in the publishing world?
