Dear Genius

I read Dear Genius at the recommendation of our Children's Services librarian. I was instantly hooked. What horrible thing appeared in Laura Ingalls Wilder's book that required the apology in the first letter?

I kept having to get the books mentioned in the letters and take another look at them in terms of the changes that UN wanted made. I assumed that these books, many of them "classics", came full-blown from the authors/ illustrators. Is this type of editorial involvment still typical in children's publishing?

Also, as a librarian, I found UN's references to and opinions about librarians interesting.
