I am Richard Jackson, Cyndi Rylant's editor through MISSING MAY and the first two H&M books, and now again with THE ISLANDER. About the latter, may I suggest that you don't get all tangled up in distinguishing it as fantasy or realism and simply enjoy it as a spell?ster (which some will fall under and some will not)? I'm not great at the network biz and yesterday fired off (it boomeranged) a message of thanks to Ninda Lindsay--have I got this right?-- for her excellent thinking about THE ISLANDER. I've found it a difficult book to get words around--words other than its own, that is. For a sample of my difficulty, see the DK Ink Spring 98 catalog! Dick Jackson
