Hello--This is one of those horrendous days when I have to cope with catalog info sheets for DK Ink books none of you have heard of (future books, that is; not terminally obscure ones) and haven't much time, but: For me, Cyndi Rylant's novels, like the musicals of Stephen Sondheim, are essentially about yearning--the power of it, the sadness, the hope implicit. DAISY, DUST,and MAY touch upon the yearning for, respecitvely, family, God, love. KINDNESS, which no one seems to mention, about what's past. ISLANDER, about what's up ahead--which is, perhaps, why it strikes some as a dream. Dick Jackson
