I had not read Ginny's post carefully before responding a few minutes ago to the novella element of the Islander. These responses are quite elementary, and perhaps this book should be read on another level with older kids. I bought Missing May and A fine white dust as well as other Rylant works for my high schools students. These books do get checked out too--one reason is that they are short!!! Michele
