Cynthia Rylant: easy readers

I agree with Steven. Rylant's Mr. Putter & Tabby books are not the usual fast paced books we see on the market for easy readers. I agree that children like seeing adults reveal the child within, but I also think that children relate to the friendship between Mr. Putter and his cat, as well as with his neighbor. The soft mood and even pace Rylant sets is also reassuring and comforting to children. Students in my libraries cannot keep their hands off anything by Cynthia Rylant. I believe she strikes an inner cord with her readers.
