Michelle M. has commented on the difference in sophistication of some stories in EVERY LIVING THING. I wonder let that worry me; we all live on more than one level, and if we're adult, on the level both as adult and child. A meal is the richer for different densities to savor, even if some are more complicated than others. Kids are not merely kids, emotionally. Of course, I published the book, so I'm prejudiced, I guess. Try the parrot story. I haven't a copy anymore--and editor's sorrow--so can't check the title. It's in the center of the book, and it's a beauty. Dick Jackson
